Ferrari trial ‘Halo' style cockpit protection

Ferrari have tried out an installation run with their SF16-H fitted with the ‘Halo' protection system being evaluated for introduction. One of the proposed solutions for cockpit protection has been the ‘Halo' concept, believed to be the one favoured by the FIA & F1's Strategy Group. With the FIA stating that ‘some form' of cockpit protection is intended for the 2017 season onwards, Ferrari decided to try out a real world application of the Halo by attaching one to Kimi Raikkonen's car on Day 3 of the second test in Barcelona.
