Ecclestone: Aim of qualifying change 'forgotten'

– Bernie Ecclestone reckons it has been "forgotten" why Formula 1 introduced a new qualifying format this season, following an agreement to return to last year's system.On the eve of the campaign, a live elimination format was outlined, which involved drivers getting knocked out at regular intervals in the closing half of each Q1, Q2 and Q3 phase.But it drew criticism from fans, drivers and teams in Australia and Bahrain.Intense discussions took place to determine the next step, with teams eager to revert to 2015-style qualifying, but Ecclestone and FIA President Jean Todt presenting an aggregate proposal.Ecclestone and Todt ultimately bowed to the pressure, after all 11...
