Red Bull set to run canopy in Russia practice

Red Bull/Getty Images Red Bull is set to publicly debut its canopy protection system during free practice for the Russian Grand Prix on Friday. Formula 1 has been attempting to increase head protection across recent years, with the 'halo' device currently favoured by the FIA. The halo was trialled on a Ferrari during pre-season testing though the system divided opinion. Red Bull will run the canopy on one of it RB12s during Friday's opening session at the Sochi Autodrom. The canopy was fitted to the car on Thursday afternoon in preparation for its public debut.
