Magnussen penalised for Palmer clash

Kevin Magnussen has been handed a 10-second time penalty and awarded two penalty points for his clash with Renault teammate Jolyon Palmer during the Spanish Grand Prix. Magnussen made contact with Palmer on the final lap of the race when trying to overtake the Briton for 13th place. The Dane had switched to soft tyres late in the race and was much faster than Palmer. "Car 20 was on a new set of soft tyres, and Car 30 was on an older set of hard tyres leading the driver of Car 20 to have significantly better grip and speed," the stewards' statement said.
