Pirelli unveil prototype 2017 tyres

Monaco Grand Prix – Pirelli have taken the covers off their new look tyres, ahead of the change in regulations for 2017. Part of the new raft of rules being rolled out to decrease laptimes from next year onwards, the tyre regulations are being chagedn. Front tyre widths are being increased from 245 to 305 millimetres, almost the same width as a current rear tyre. The rear tyres will be considerably fatter, increased from 325 to 405 millimetres. This will increase mechanical car grip, due to the much bigger contact patches the tyres will have. The wheel size remains the same, at 13 inches, although Pirelli did trial 18 inch wheels on a GP2 car at last year's Monaco event. The changes...
