Hamilton stretches clear as Vettel splits Mercedes pair

Click here for full FP1 results for the Canadian Grand Prix Lewis Hamilton has laid down the marker to beat for the chasing pack as Sebastian Vettel splits the Mercedes duo to set up an intriguing battle in Canada. The reigning F1 world champion looks in irresistible form around a track he's won at four times in the past and once he focused on qualifying laps he comfortably gapped team-mate Nico Rosberg by half a second with a top time of 1m 14.212s. Vettel, running a different plan, ended up improving his best efforts later in the session as he claimed second with a 1m 14.469s to push the current F1 championship leader down to third.
