Hamilton fears penalties will wreck title defence
Lewis Hamilton fears his world championship defence is in danger of being undermined by engine failures and grid penalties as he seeks to cut Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg’s 24-points lead. The three-time champion on Friday went into opening free practice for this weekend’s Austrian Grand Prix taking parts of his fifth new power unit this year, leaving him facing certain to use further new parts, for which he will be penalised, in the second half of the season.
