Renault approves increased budget to boost performance

The Renault Sport F1 team has received a major boost to its budget as it seeks to move up the order in its second season, whilst accelerating its original five-year plan to win races and championships. Following its takeover of the Lotus outfit late last year, Renault put in place a plan which would see it capable of winning championships from 2020 onwards. However following a parent group board meeting, an increased budget for the team has been agreed, with the hope that on-track success will come sooner, according managing director Cyril Abiteboul.
