Nico Rosberg takes controlled Italian GP victory at Monza

Nico Rosberg clinched his first victory at the Monza circuit with a controlled Italian Grand Prix drive, beating his Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton. The German driver had a strong start to storm into the lead, with Hamilton bogging down and falling to sixth on the opening lap. Mercedes went for a one-stop strategy, with a long first stint for both drivers on the soft tyre after setting their best Q2 times on the compound in qualifying. Rosberg was able to establish a comfortable lead in the early stages and never looked challenged at Monza, coming home to win his seventh race of the season and cut the gap to Hamilton further in the title fight.
