Wehrlein picks up Japanese GP grid penalty for gearbox change
Manor driver Pascal Wehrlein has picked up a five-place grid penalty for the Japanese Grand Prix after a gearbox change. The German driver’s gearbox was changed after Friday practice at Suzuka and was confirmed by the FIA on Saturday morning. As Manor have breached the regulation, changing the gearbox before it has completed the required six events, a penalty has been handed out. Jolyon Palmer is also running a new gearbox but without penalty, as his last one completed six consecutive events. Lewis Hamilton and Romain Grosjean have new gearboxes too but they were allowed to change them after retiring in Malaysia. As well as Wehrlein’s grid penalty, Manor also used up one of its...
