EXPLAINED: Verstappen's pit-lane drama in Austin
An unscheduled visit into the pit-lane ruined Max Verstappen's United States Grand Prix, after a double podium finish was on the cards for Red Bull Racing. F1 Hub explains the miscommunication behind Verstappen's unscheduled visit to the pits. The Dutch driver was running in fourth place, ahead of championship rivals Ferrari, and was on a role to chase down Nico Rosberg. However, on Lap 26, the Dutch driver arrived in the pits – the team were unaware – this resulted in a 13 second loss, as Red Bull rushed the tyres out of the garage whilst the Dutchman was waiting in his pit-box.
