Vettel and Hamilton split by narrow margin in FP2
Mexican Grand Prix – Sebastian Vettel headed second practice by just four thousandths of a second to Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton. Ferrari were one of the first teams to set a time on the red-banded supersoft tyre for the qualifying simulation, with both drivers taking an extra warm-up lap before pushing. Vettel’s ultimate lap time was a 1:19.790, which Hamilton got to within 0.013s of after his first effort. A second run on the same tyre saw him close to gap to just 0.004s. The duo looked evenly matched on their long runs as well, although Ferrari were focusing more on the soft tyre, with Hamilton running the supersoft tyre for his race run.
