Capito hopes Alonso extends McLaren deal

– McLaren's Formula 1 Chief Executive Officer Jost Capito says he hopes Fernando Alonso will seek to extend his stay with the team beyond the end of his current contract.Alonso re-joined McLaren from Ferrari on a three-year deal at the start of 2015, but has achieved only limited success amid the team's reunion with Honda, finishing 10th in the 2016 standings.Alonso has previously indicated that he will wait to sample the 2017-specification cars, designed under new regulations, before deciding on his future, with a potential move to the World Endurance Championship mooted.Capito, who joined McLaren after overseeing Volkswagen's dominant period in the World Rally Championship, is...
