McLaren’s new executive director Zac Brown says the team is adamant Fernando Alonso will not move to Mercedes for the 2017 season. Nico Rosberg announced his retirement from Formula 1 on Friday, opening up a vacant seat at the world champions for next year. Mercedes has admitted it will take its time choosing a replacement, but Alonso has been linked to the drive. 2017 will be the final year of Alonso’s contract but Brown is sure McLaren will not lose the Spaniard to Mercedes. “We have a contract with Fernando and he is very happy,” the new McLaren executive director told Sky Sports. “Obviously he wants to be winning races, as do we, but I am not worried about...
