– GPUpdate.net readers believe that Mercedes should try to poach Fernando Alonso from McLaren-Honda to replace the retiring Nico Rosberg in Formula 1 next season.Rosberg stunned the sporting world by announcing his immediate exit from the sport, five days after clinching the title, which consequently freed a seat at Mercedes for 2017.For a week-long poll available on the website, GPUpdate readers were given the choice of five candidates: Alonso, Pascal Wehrlein, Sebastian Vettel, Valtteri Bottas and Esteban Ocon.In one of our most popular polls of the season, Alonso attracted 33.7 per cent of the vote, in a move which would recreate his 2007 partnership with Lewis Hamilton.However,...
