McLaren F1 marketing chief Ekrem Sami announces departure

McLaren has confirmed that long-standing marketing chief Ekrem Sami is to leave the team after over three decades at Woking. Sami (pictured right) joined McLaren back in 1981 following its merger with Project Four Racing, where he worked under Ron Dennis in Formula 2 and Formula 3. Sami enjoyed a brief stint with Lotus in the mid-1980s before returning to McLaren, where he was tasked with heading up its new marketing services company. On Thursday, McLaren confirmed that Sami would be leaving the team, stepping down as CEO of McLaren Marketing.
