1964 F1 champion John Surtees passes away aged 83

The family of 1964 Formula 1 world champion John Surtees have announced that the 83-year-old passed away on Friday afternoon. Surtees, the only man to have won world championships on both two and four wheels, died after being admitted to hospital in February with a respiratory condition. 'It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our husband and father, John Surtees CBE,' his family announced via the Henry Surtees Foundation – a charity set up in honour of John's son, Henry, who passed away in 2009 during a Formula 2 race.
