Sainz debuts 80g racing boots in Spanish GP

Carlos Sainz will be the first Formula 1 driver to get use of a new ultra-lightweight racing boot, which comes in at just 80 grammes, at this weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix. With all teams pushing hard to reduce weight of the cars, one area that has had more attention focused on it in 2017 is driver wear. Earlier this year Bell introduced a new crash helmet that was 100 grammes lighter, and now clothing company Alpinestars has shaved off weight of its racing boots. Sainz has been given the honour of using it for the first time at his home race. The original Supermono shoe was introduced in 2005 and came in at 125 grammes. A second evolution of it arrived in 2014, which got it down to 100...
