Mercedes rubbishes "baseless" claims about F1 exit

Mercedes has rubbished suggestions by former team boss Eddie Jordan that is could quit Formula 1 after the 2018 season. Jordan, now a television pundit, told German media this week that it would make sense for Mercedes to return to being just an engine supplier after having proved it can dominate the sport as a team. "Perhaps Mercedes will pull out of Formula 1 after the 2018 season," he was quoted as saying by German newspaper TZ. "I think if they were to fight for both world championship titles in 2017 and 2018 their board will decide to sell the team and to remain in F1 only as an engine supplier. I would do the same.
