Bottas understands one-year Mercedes deal

– Valtteri Bottas says he understands Mercedes' desire to keep its long-term options open, in the wake of the Finn securing a one-year extension to stay at the team for 2018.Bottas moved over to Mercedes from Williams in January as a replacement for Nico Rosberg, and holds third spot in the standings, having secured wins in Russia and Austria.Mercedes confirmed earlier in the week that Bottas will continue with the team, though only on a one-year deal, ostensibly so the operation can evaluate its options for 2019.Bottas explained that he has no problems with the short-term nature of the deal, and insists it is up to him to perform and earn his place at Mercedes long-term."I have...
