Ericsson Praises ‘Strength of the car’ after Heavy Crash at Monza
An apparent failure of the Drag Reduction System was the cause of Marcus Ericsson’s high speed crash at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, leaving the Swedish driver on the back foot for the rest of the Italian Grand Prix weekend. The Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team driver completed only eleven laps in the morning session in tricky conditions caused by heavy rain both before and during the session, but it was dry for the afternoon session, but the first flying lap of the session saw his DRS fail to close as he approached the first chicane, which turned him sharply into the wall and into a wild ride that involved two rolls.
