Hamilton's performances have been 'average' this season

Despite already leading the race for the World Championship by 17 points, Lewis Hamilton has been critical of his performances so far this season, describing them as "average" following his win in Monaco. The Brit has won four races in 2019 in Bahrain, China, Spain and most recently Monaco where he held off pressure from Max Verstappen and survived severe tyre problems to open up a bigger lead at the top. The five-time World Champion leads his teammate, Valtteri Bottas by 17 points with the Silver Arrows on top of the podium at every race this season.
