Max Verstappen gets Austria award after F1 confirms Robert Kubica glitch
Formula 1 has confirmed that Max Verstappen was voted ‘Driver of the Day’ in Austria, in the wake of a technical glitch being corrected. Formula 1 spectators are able to vote online for the driver who they feel put in the best performance at each grand prix. In Austria Williams driver Robert Kubica was declared the winner, in spite of the Pole finishing a thrice-lapped 20th after another difficult event. On Tuesday Formula 1 officials confirmed that a “technical error” resulted in Kubica being “incorrectly allocated a number of votes”. Race winner Verstappen was instead deemed Driver of the Day.
