Alfa Romeo appoints Jan Monchaux as Simone Resta's replacement
Alfa Romeo has promoted Jan Monchaux to the position of Technical Director of its Formula 1 team, amid the imminent departure of Simone Resta. Monchaux is currently Head of Aerodynamics at the Switzerland-based team, which currently holds sixth place in the Constructors’ Championship. Monchaux joined Alfa Romeo under its Sauber guise in early 2018 as part of the team's recruitment drive, and will take up his new position on August 1. Resta only joined Alfa Romeo as its Technical Director in mid-2018, as a replacement for Jorg Zander, but is set to leave for Ferrari at the end of the month.
