Lewis Hamilton quickest in opening Hungarian GP practice session

Reigning World Champion Lewis Hamilton topped the first practice session for Formula 1’s Hungarian Grand Prix in overcast conditions at the Hungaroring. A spate of light showers threatened to disrupt running but ultimately drivers were able to carry out substantial laps on slick tyres, just a few days after the crazy German Grand Prix. Hamilton got back on track after his Hockenheim disaster by posting a time of 1:17.233, as he wound up 0.165s quicker than last weekend’s race winner Max Verstappen.
