Leclerc fastest in rain affected practice

Italian Grand Prix – Ferrari's Charles Leclerc used a last-gasp flying lap on dry tyres to go fastest in a rain affected first practice at Monza. With a heavy deluge of rain overnight, the intermittent showers through Friday morning meant a cold and damp Monza circuit greeted the drivers as the first practice session began. Unsurprisingly, it was a quiet start to the session with some installation laps put in on the Intermediate and Wet tyres. Highlighting the lack of grip, Kimi Raikkonen crashed his Alfa Romeo at the Parabolica early in the session as he lost control re-applying the power, while Sergio Perez also brought out the red flags when he crashed exiting Ascari.
