Bottas fastest but collides, Hamilton second
Valtteri Bottas prepared for his back-of-the-grid start in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix by setting the pace in both practice sessions on Friday, with Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton in second just ahead of Ferrari's Charles Leclerc. Armed with a fresh but penalty-triggering engine for the season finale following a rare Mercedes failure in Brazil, Bottas maintained his advantage from P1 with a fastest lap of P2 of 1:36.256 - three tenths faster than the similarly-matched Hamilton and Leclerc in the 'twilight' evening conditions of the desert.
