Pirelli has to change plans: 'That'll happen sometime next year now'

Pirelli was originally supposed to supply 18-inch tyres to Formula 1 from 2021 onwards, but because the new regulations have been postponed to 2022, 13-inch tyres will continue to be used in the royal class of motorsport next year. Pirelli's contract with Formula 1 runs until 2023, which means that the Italian tyre supplier will have to develop a whole new tyre for possibly only two seasons.
