Verstappen staying calm over early deficit to Mercedes
Article To news overview © Red Bull Contentpool Max Verstappen was unconcerned about finishing a little off the pace on the opening day of practice for the Qatar Grand Prix. Having set the fastest time in the first practice session, Verstappen finished third in the more representative evening session, eclipsed by Mercedes' Valtteri Bottas and AlphaTauri's Pierre Gasly. Verstappen put in two flying laps on the Soft tyre but, curiously, appeared not to enjoy the Soft tyre a lot as his first flying lap wasn't particularly strong.
