Piastri denies 2022 is a ‘wasted' year of career

Reigning Formula 2 champion Oscar Piastri does not believe that serving as Alpine's reserve driver for 2022 will be a waste of a year. Piastri was the standout driver of the 2021 Formula 2 campaign, winning the title with a whopping 60.5-point margin, meaning he achieved the feat of being crowned Formula 3 and then F2 champion in back-to-back seasons. However, Alpine were unable to secure their junior driver a spot on the 2022 F1 grid, meaning he will spend that season serving as their reserve driver.
