Sainz fastest, Verstappen unhappy as Merc debut upgrades in FP1

Carlos Sainz set the pace as Mercedes debuted their long-awaited F1 upgrade package in opening practice for the Monaco Grand Prix.  Ferrari’s Sainz was 0.338s faster than Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso in the first of Friday’s two practice sessions, with Lewis Hamilton taking third in his upgraded W14.  F1 2023 Monaco Grand Prix - Friday Practice Results Can Fernando Alonso win the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix?
