Lewis Hamilton makes big claim about new Mercedes contract
Lewis Hamilton is at the centre of rampant speculation within the drivers’ market, as rumours swirl about his future in Formula 1 amid prolonged negotiations with Mercedes. Hamilton and Mercedes have repeatedly claimed that the seven-time world champion will sign a contract extension but, as of yet, no deal is in sight. 'My team is working closely behind the scenes with Toto [Wolff], we are almost at the end of having a contract ready,' Hamilton told reporters in Monaco. Ahead of Monaco, it has now been reported that another option is potentially on the table, as Ferrari are believed to have offered a sizeable deal to the Brit in a bid to steal him away from Mercedes next year.
