Van der Garde: I could have stayed at Caterham

Giedo van der Garde says that he had the option to remain with Caterham for 2014 but instead chose to join Sauber as it provided him with a better option for his future.
Van der Garde made his Formula 1 debut for Caterham in 2013 but will not race in the sport this year after signing as Sauber's test and reserve driver.
The Dutch driver will receive running at selected first practice sessions and test days.
"Sometimes you have to make a move sideways before you can take two steps forward," Van der Garde told GPUpdate.net.
"I could have signed a new deal with Caterham but I didn't because this is a better chance for me."
