De Silvestro joins Sauber as 'affiliated driver'

Sauber has announced that IndyCar racer Simona De Silvestro has joined the team as an 'affiliated driver'.
The 25 year old Swiss has raced in the USA since 2006 and has competed in the IndyCar series since 2010.
Sauber will now help De Silvestro gain her Formula 1 super license with a programme that will include on track testing, simulator training, as well as mental and physical preparation.
"This is a major step towards me achieving a life-long dream and I’m so happy to have the opportunity to take this step with such a great team," she said.
