Steadfast Ecclestone reiterates Monza threat
Bernie Ecclestone has once again sent out a warning to Monza to agree a new deal for the Italian Grand Prix as the axe continues to loom ahead of this year's race. Despite its historic status, the Italian Grand Prix remains very much under threat as promoters struggle to reach a new deal with the commercial rights holder, with many fearing this year's race in two weeks' time could prove its swansong. Indeed, while promoters have already stated it cannot afford to meet the fee levelled at it to host the Italian Grand Prix with assistance from outside investors, Ecclestone nonetheless remains steadfast in refusing to lower it.
