Hamilton out of Qualifying early due to a power unit issue

Russian Grand Prix – Lewis Hamilton was unable to take part in Q3 in Russia, due to a failure on his power unit. Hamilton had made it through into Q3 when he suffered a failure on his car. He encountered an MGU-H failure, and confirmed that the power unit fitted to the car was the new unit fitted after his Chinese GP failure. Hamilton had decided to head back out on track in the closing stages of Q2, fitted out with the SuperSoft tyres in an attempt to close down the almost half a second deficit he had to teammate Nico Rosberg.
