Rosberg proud of fastest lap
Championship leader Nico Rosberg has expressed his delight of setting a new lap record during FP1 of the Austrian Grand Prix on the Red Bull Ring. Breaking Michael Schumacher’s 1m 07.908s he set back in 2003, Rosberg set a time of 1m 07.373s but in doing expressed his concern over degradation. Despite his impressive speed, the German, as well the rest of the grid, had to take a backseat to the rain downpour in FP2. Adding to the disappointment of not getting in a full FP2, Rosberg said that tyre degradation was an issue, saying that after a hot lap on the Ultra soft compound he could feel them wearing out.
