Ericsson passes medical, declared fit to race
British Grand Prix – Marcus Ericsson has passed medical checks and has been cleared to participate in today's British Grand Prix. The Sauber driver crashed heavily in the third and final practice session on Saturday morning after losing control of his car on the exit of Stowe corner whilst on a stint on the soft tyre. He spun and crashed into barrier on the approach to Vale corner, causing huge damage to his Sauber and resulting in a trip to the hospital. A couple of hours after qualifying, the stewards permitted him to take part in the race – medical check dependant – despite missing the qualifying hour, given that his pace in free practice was sufficient.
